By leaving Cihan’s place in the afternoon we made a mistake. No, we didn’t leave anything behind, the mistake was leaving around 2pm to cover a section 73km long, which was also not exactly flat.Read more…
At the morning we had a traditionally breakfast: they brought a big blanket into the middle of the room, a smaller on it and trays with lots of delicacies.Read more…
We didn’t rise early in Tepekoly since we went to a wedding the evening before. We had such wonderful experiences that we didn’t mind our late start that morning. Sahaps invited us for breakfast. Again we sat around the large serving tray, ate and had a good conversation. When we get home, we will buy such a large, wooden tray and adopt this Kurdish custom including the tea drinking.
While packing I noticed that one of the spokes in Zita’s rear wheel is broken, we even had to take the Rohloff gears apart a bit. This took quite a lot of time, it was well after 10am (with a lot of heat) by the time I finished.
We left Cüney quite early, as we managed to pack the night before. One of our host’s colleagues was waiting for him outside the house when we were saying our goodbyes. He left for work and we went on our way.

(watch your video about arriving to Istanbul here!)
We left Edirne in the morning. Ali joined us for the first 25kms before we stopped in a village for a tea.
The locals were sitting at the tables, were playing cards and drinking tea. It was half lira so we had some too and also bought a large box of ice cream for 3 liras. During the break we cleaned the chains cause it was due despite they were still in working order. We said good bye form Ali, we had a good time with him, it was a nice change before three of us hit the road again.
The road was still undulating; we planned to go till Kirklareli, 60kms from Edirne, but the hills tired us out so we arrived there only in dinner time. Zita and Dani went shopping to the local BIM while I looked after the bikes. Read more…
